INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The ING internship program offers a variety of positions to learn about the different functions in managing and operating a non-profit organization. Interns gain knowledge related to raising religious literacy and cultural awareness in our communities through ING’s educational programs and presentations. Interns also receive practical training in project management, community outreach, research, writing, and other office assignments while working with our professional staff.


Internships Available

Summer full-time internship
  • This year’s summer internship program begins Monday, June 2, 2008 and ends on Friday, August 22, 2008, for a period of 12 weeks.
  • Summer intern positions are full-time (40 hours a week) and these interns will receive a nominal stipend for participating in this program.
  • Summer interns will receive a stipend of $125 per week.
Year-round full-time internship
  • High school, college and university students may apply for internships anytime of the year.
  • If you would like to earn course credit, ING can review and complete any necessary documentation from your academic institution for you to receive course credit, as appropriate.
  • Interns who work full-time (40 hours a week) for a minimum of two months will receive a nominal stipend for participating in this program.
  • Applications are accepted year-round.
  • Only individuals who are full-time interns and eligible to work in the U.S. will receive a stipend.
Year-round part-time internship
  • Part-time internships for high school and higher education students are also available.
  • To earn course credit, ING can review and complete any necessary documentation from your academic institution for you to receive course credit, as appropriate.
  • Interns must work for a minimum of eight hours a week and at least two consecutive hours at a time.
  • Applications are accepted year-round.
Types of Positions Available

Development: Assist with fund development by researching, writing and/or editing grant reports and applications. Develop informational databases and mailing lists. Work on campaign events and related projects. Help with ING’s most important fundraising event, the ING Annual Supporters Dinner, which will be held on October 5, 2008. Marketing: Assist with marketing the ING Speakers Bureau programs by supporting a variety of projects (Islamic Speakers Bureau and Interfaith Speakers Bureau). Assist with producing speaker training kits and tools. Write, edit and proof marketing materials. Help with organizing and participate in speaker meetings and training workshops. Office Administration: Assist in general office administration, including answering phone calls and filing. Conduct special projects as needed.

Application Process

To apply for an internship, please provide the following information. First, complete and submit the online ING Internship Application Form. Then, email your resume and two recommendations to Saba Siddiqi, ING Human Resources Manager at saba@ing.org. We will contact you for an interview if you are selected as a candidate for an internship. Decisions are usually made within four weeks of receipt of a completed application.

Before starting as an ING intern, you will be required to provide proof of eligible employment in the U.S.
