Intercultural Speakers Bureau (ICSB) Training – Virtual
Date(s) - September 2, 2021
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Join ING on Thursday, September 2nd to learn about the Intercultural Speakers Bureau.
The Intercultural Speakers Bureau (ICSB) addresses and counters racism against racial, ethnic, and religious groups by bringing together a panel of speakers from different marginalized communities experiencing bigotry in the United States to educate about how racist narratives about a people were formed and framed in history and then embedded in culture institutionally and through implicit biases.
The panel focuses on the shared history and diverse breadth of experiences from the following groups: Muslim Americans, Jewish Americans, Indigenous Peoples, African Americans, Latinx Americans, and Asian Americans.
Who should consider joining the Intercultural Speakers Bureau?
If you have an interest in educating diverse audiences about the history of your community and taking an active role in addressing bigotry and systemic racism in the United States through education, ING’s Intercultural Speakers Bureau is an excellent opportunity to act on that interest in a way that fits your schedule.
You will be a successful ICSB speaker if you:
- Have previous public speaking experience
- Are familiar with the history of the United States
- Are familiar with the history of your cultural group
- Have the capacity to participate in at least 4 panels per year
What is included in the training?
- Overview of the ICSB program
- Review of the ICSB presentation content
- Copy of the Intercultural Speakers Kit, which includes the presentation materials
- Speaker guidelines and speaking tips
Once registered, you will be contacted before the training with the Zoom link and any further event details. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Bay Area Director Ishaq Pathan at [email protected]
