The founding of ING and its transition from presentations about Muslims and their faith to presentations and training seminars about Muslims in the context of American diversity and religious pluralism, and Islamophobia in the context of Anti-Blackness, Anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry is a fascinating story. But it’s really a story about America’s multifaith, multiethnic past and present where ING’s role as a civic institution is shaping how Americans are understanding how to live harmoniously with our growing diversity and as model for other nations in religious freedom, equality and civil liberties.
