After an overview of terminology, traditions and practices, and demographics, the presentation describes Islamic perspectives on illness and healthcare, family systems, decision-making processes, dress codes, privacy and gender issues, and dietary guidelines; women’s healthcare, including reproductive issues, labor, and delivery; and Islamic views on death and dying and end-of-life issues, including emergency treatment, life support, and terminal illness and palliative care. There will be ample opportunities for questions and comments throughout the seminar, allowing participants to share their current policies and experiences caring for Muslim patients.
