Wishing You Peace in the New Year
In a world torn by polarization and strife, we at ING want to share with you what gives us hope for peace. All the religious and ethical traditions about which we educate hold out peace as a central goal of their teaching and practice.
The prophet Jesus tells us, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God”; the Talmud teaches, “Everything written in the Torah is written for the sake of peace”: and Muhammad advises us, “Pray to God to be among those who seek to live peacefully with others.”
How can we uphold the truth of these words when we are faced daily with news of war and violence, especially against innocent children? All of our various faiths forbid us to despair and urge us on to start by building peace in ourselves and family, and in our communities and neighborhood.
That is what we aim to do in ING: to be peacebuilders through education and engagement that builds mutual understanding and respect in the wonderful diversity of humanity. This New Year, we urge you to join us with your prayers, your actions, and your support as we all strive together for the peace that our world so desperately needs.
