Committed as it is to countering bigotry and promoting interreligious and intercultural understanding in society at large, ING values the mass media as a channel through which it can bring its message to the widest possible audience. – ING was founded, originally under the name “Bay Area Media Watch.” The central goal was to monitor and react to biased media coverage relating to Islam and Muslims.
– Telephone Call-in Network developed in the San Francisco Bay Area to react to media coverage by initiating a call-in network of activists who contacted reporters and editors protesting biased coverage relating to Islam and Muslims.
APRIL
– Media Campaign: First Bosnia Rally, San Francisco, CA (involved several Bay Area Islamic Centers with 1,500 participating; dozens of news media outlets covered the rally, leading to numerous interviews and news articles)
MAY
