In the Classroom – Educator Responses to Boston Bombings
Dear Educators:
ING’s staff and speakers join Americans nationwide in their sadness and horror at the senseless and tragic Boston Marathon bombings last week. Such actions are the antithesis of Islamic teachings and are rejected and condemned by American Muslims. ING issued this statement and invited other faith groups to sign on.
As outlined in an ING Campaign, we encourage administrators and educators to be particularly vigilant about potential problems and conflict both in and outside the classroom, and to exhibit sensitivity in classroom discussions of the bombings or terrorism. ING also offers multiple resources for parents, youth, and educators to address the problem of bullying.
ING certified and trained speakers are available to make live presentations on a variety of topics and help dispel stereotypes and misconceptions about Muslims and their faith. ING’s interfaith panels help students understand the similarities between all faiths.
Answering Frequently Asked Questions about Islam and Muslims
We invite educators to reference our online Frequently Asked Questions about Muslims which offers brief yet comprehensive answers to 100 of the most common questions about Muslims and their faith. We also offer an online resource on the Common FAQs about Shariah law.
