Wishing you and your family a blessed Eid al-Adha!

This year’s hajj was like no other in our collective memory as only a thousand people were permitted to perform the pilgrimage, a ritual which normally attracts 2-3 million people from around the world. By limiting attendance during the pilgrimage, Muslims played their part in preventing the further spread of COVID-19, placing the sanctity of human life above that of even the holiest of places and rituals in the Islamic tradition. This is a reflection of religious teachings which privilege human life above other priorities, and emphasize taking measures to preserve the common good. Similarly, many communities across America are once again refraining from performing Eid prayers out of concern for the health of the most vulnerable and upholding the common good.
As we celebrate Eid under these unusual circumstances, let us recognize this as an opportunity to appreciate and show gratitude for the many blessings we still can enjoy, especially our family, our health, our homes, food, health and security. May the peace of this sacred time envelope and uplift us, and may the many lessons of, Abraham and Hajar, which are at the core of this celebration, inspire us to strength, dedication, and courage during this time of adversity.
Thank you for your friendship and support,
From all of us at ING
