This interactive one-hour session provides an introduction to Arab American culture and
identity while helping participants move beyond common stereotypes. Participants will learn about the diversity within Arab communities and explore how cultural traditions, language, faith, and migration histories shape Arab American experiences today. The program also addresses how Arab Americans are frequently misclassified within U.S. racial categories and how public narratives often conflate Arab identity with Islam, contributing to misperceptions that affect both Muslim and non-Muslim Arab Americans. Through visuals, examples, and discussion, participants will gain practical cultural knowledge while developing a more nuanced understanding of Arab American identity. Questions and audience discussions will be encouraged throughout.
