Countering Bullying with Knowledge, Civility, Respect

The speakers will focus on preventing bullying of students of color by understanding the roots of the biases and stereotypes which lead to religious or ethnic-based bullying, promoting inclusive classrooms and schools, and gaining a better understanding of students’ ethnic and religious identities and practices, as well as strategies for addressing bullying when it happens. While the workshop focuses on Muslims as the primary example of a group characterized by pervasive stereotypes, the same strategies apply to all targeted groups and the presentation stresses the overall message of respect and inclusion for all.

Throughout the workshop the speakers will entertain questions and have a discussion with the audience.
