ING’s core presentation Getting to Know American Muslims and Their Faith provides an introduction to Islam as Muslims actually believe in and practice it in all its diversity today.

After introducing some of the basic terminology that Muslims use, it presents the demographics of Muslims in the world and in the U.S., outlines Muslim traditions and practices, and gives an overview of Muslim history in this country, including notable American Muslims today.

This presentation then addresses common misconceptions relating to extremism and women’s rights and discusses Muslims’ views on pluralism and on Islam’s relationship to other faiths, including Judaism and Christianity.

ING Deputy Director Ishaq Pathan will present this presentation to a group of kids who are between ages 3 to 13 at Glide Kids in San Francisco. The Glide Kids Celebration will begin at 11:00am with Ishaq’s talk between 11:30-11:50am.
