In this presentation, the speaker will discuss major Muslim holidays and important Islamic dates, including Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr or the Festival of Breaking the Fast, Hajj, Eid al-Adha or the Festival of the Sacrifice, the Islamic New Year, Ashura, and Mawlid an-Nabi or the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. The speaker will also discuss these dates as they are observed according to the Islamic lunar calendar, which shifts by approximately 11 days each year in relation to the Gregorian solar calendar.
Throughout the presentation the speaker will entertain questions and have a discussion with the audience.
