This interactive workshop provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the diversity of Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian identities and lived experiences. It examines three interconnected forms of bias, Islamophobia, anti-Arab bias, and anti-Palestinian racism, and explores how these biases show up in interpersonal interactions, classroom environments, student services, campus communications, institutional decisions, and national events that shape campus climate. The workshop concludes with practical strategies for combating these forms of bias on college and university campuses.

Through facilitated discussions and two hands-on exercises using realistic campus scenarios, attendees will:

  • Recognize subtle and overt forms of bias in academic and administrative contexts.
  • Distinguish harmful narratives from legitimate critique of policies or institutions.
  • Analyze classroom, departmental, advising, and policy scenarios involving Islamophobia, anti-Arab bias, or anti-Palestinian racism.
  • Develop actionable strategies for prevention, intervention, and accountability.
  • Strengthen the sense of safety, belonging, and inclusion for Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian community members.
