A Flood of Speaker Requests
As School Year Begins

ING has been flooded with requests from middle and high schools across the Bay Area for the Islamic Speakers Bureau and the Interfaith Speakers Bureau. ING speakers delivered presentations on Getting to Know American Muslims and their Faith at schools in Oakland, Morgan Hill, and San Jose last week as well as multiple presentations on Muslim Women Beyond the Stereotypes in San Mateo. An ING interfaith panel addressed five classes in an Oakland middle school on the topic of the “Separation of Church and State”.

In the past week, we’ve completed seventeen presentations for a combined audience of 550 students and teachers. If you’d like to schedule a panel or presentation for your school, office, or community group, please write to [email protected]

The California Three Rs Project (CA3Rs) is a program for finding common ground on issues related to religious liberty and the First Amendment in public schools.

They just released a guide for public schools on the Jewish High Holy Days, which started Wednesday, September 24th at sundown.

The guide provides a brief explanation of the holidays, a list of children’s literature, and resources for all teachers to gain understanding and appropriately teach about these religious holidays. Download the resource and learn more about the High Holy Days here.
