Marian Art: Mary in the Qur’an

ING Content Director Ameena Jandali will lecture on “Mary in the Qur’an” in a class on Marian art taught by Kathryn R. Barush, Assistant Professor of Art History and Religion at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. The veneration of Mary that is the basis for the art studied in the course plays an important role in many Christian traditions.
Getting to Know Muslims and Their Faith

ING Chief Executive Officer Maha Elgenaidi will deliver our flagship presentation and answer questions on American Muslims to the Palo Alto Kiwanis Club Thursday afternoon. Her presentation describes the basic beliefs and practices of Muslims and gives a brief overview of their history and of notable Muslims today.
Islam and the Environment
Saturday April 23rd, 2:35–3:35 p.m. in Walnut Creek
ING Content Director Ameena Jandali will present a workshop on “Islam and the Environment” as part of “Earth Day 2016: Linking Our Faith to Accelerated Action,” an event sponsored by the Contra Costa County Interfaith Climate Action Network. The day will focus on concrete actions that individuals and communities of faith can take to promote government and corporate policies that wean our economy and our planet from fossil fuels and fracking to sustainable environmentally friendly practices.
Connecticut Calling: Youth Workshop for Preventing Bullying
Saturday, April 23rd, 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. in Berlin, CT

ING travels to Berlin, Connecticut this weekend to lead a workshop for Muslim Youth and Their Parents with ING’s affiliate, the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut. Parallel workshops will be held for students age 10 through 18 and for parents.
This is another opportunity to empower school kids with knowledge, tools, responses and exercises to stand up for themselves against bullying and offer clear answers to difficult questions. —Muslim parent from a previous workshop
