ING’s Fall 2013 Interfaith Service Days

Thanks to a generous grant from One Nation Bay Area Project, Silicon Valley Community Foundation and theSan Francisco Foundation, we have expanded our interfaith speakers’ bureau program to include interfaith encounter in shared service. We have organized five Interfaith Service Days in several regions of the Bay Area to bring together people of various faiths, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and others in a day of community service.

Participants will share a common meal and conversation about a topic concerning interreligious understanding and cooperation. A precursor to the project in each local area mosque is the incorporation in the Friday sermon of teachings about the importance of interfaith understanding and cooperation, as well as encouragement for people to participate in the project.

Requirement for participation is that you must be a participant in a mosque, church, or synagogue and a resident of the county in which the service day takes place.
