Salam alaykum/Greetings of Peace,
I hope this note finds you and your family well.
I am writing to personally invite you to join me and the leading Muslim-American peacemaking organization in the country. Our mission is to promote peace among all by fostering a deeper, more nuanced understanding of Muslims and other faith-based, racial/ethnic, and cultural communities, through teaching, learning, and engaging across differences.
2020 was a good year for ING, despite the pandemic, because we transitioned online and found that the audience of our work doubled. We reached two million people in a few months, up from the one million we reached in 2019 over twelve months.
In 2021 and onward, we want to take what we do extremely well in the Bay Area and duplicate it in every neighborhood in the country by…
- Adding more content to our online downloadable curriculum and lesson plans that give educators and trainers direct access to our material for teaching.
- Enabling educators and activists to teach and engage in peacemaking work through our training and support services.
- Adding to our current speakers’ pool and making our presentations and panels available to audiences around the country.
Will you join me?
This tax year is a good opportunity for two reasons: Those who do not itemize their deductions can now receive a deduction of $300 per taxpayer on charitable contributions. An individual who itemizes deductions can now deduct contributions up to 100% of adjusted gross income, up from 60%. As of now, this is for 2020 only.
Please help me broaden the reach of the education we provide our fellow Americans about Islam and Muslims and other misunderstood groups, while countering Islamophobia and other forms of bigotry. ING pursues this mission working alongside our Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Black, Asian, Hispanic, and Indigenous partners and neighbors.
I hope to hear from you. Thank you,
