We Mourn and Pray with Catholics and with the People of France

We at ING, as people committed to respect for all faiths and cultures, are deeply grieved by the fire that has engulfed the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, one of the great shrines of Christendom and a French cultural treasure of inestimable value. We are further saddened by the fact that this tragedy occurred at the start of Holy Week, as Christians the world over are commemorating the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. We mourn and we pray with Catholics the world over and with the people of France at this loss and hope that as much as possible of this site of great artistic and above all of great spiritual value will be saved. May our sharing both in the pain of the present moment and in the hope for the restoration of this great shrine draw people of all faiths and worldviews together in love and concern.
