Prominent national Muslim organizations condemned the attacks on a Jerusalem synagogue on Tuesday, November 18th which resulted in the deaths of five people and injured several people.
Such random and senseless violence directly contravenes Islamic teachings, in particular when it targets clergy or houses of worship which the Qur’an clearly instructs Muslims to honor and even protect: “Had not God repelled some people by the might of others, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which God’s praise is celebrated daily, would have been utterly demolished. God will certainly help those who help His cause” (22:40).
