Wishing You a Blessed Holiday
on the Occassion of Eid al-Adha

As millions of Muslims gather in Mecca for the annual pilgrimage or Hajj, on Sunday, November 6th Muslims worldwide will celebrate the second major Muslim holiday, Eid al-Adha. This holiday commemorates the life and struggles of the Prophet Abraham and his family, and is a time for special prayers, family and freinds, and celebration.

Celebrating Cultural Diversity in the U.S.

Here in the U.S., we are entering the traditional holiday season and celebrating a variety of holidays that reflect multiple cultures and religious traditions. Known as a ‘melting pot,’ the U.S. is home to every major religion and ethnicity imaginable. Its cultural fabric and history is woven with the multitudes of stories of immigrants from all over the globe in search of a better life for themselves and their families.

While some might view our differences as a reason for conflict or cultural clash, those who value this nation’s diversity as a unique strength welcome another opportunity for sharing and learning about traditions and people who make this country what it is – a land of immigrants, diversity, and opportunity.

At ING, this includes the work we undertake to promote cultural literacy as a means to breaking down barriers and challenging negative stereotypes of other’s way traditions or ways of life.

The Program Officer has key responsibility for supporting the development and maintenance of ING’s Bullying Prevention Program and the College Outreach Networks effort.

Specifically, the Program Officer’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Further developing and maintaining the Bullying Prevention program. Further developing and maintaining the College Networks Outreach.

The Programs Assistant has key responsibility for supporting the development of and maintaining ING programs (Islamic Speakers Bureau; Interfaith Speakers Bureau; Cultural Diversity) in accordance with the organization’s mission, and strategic and business plans.
