The following digital presentations and their accompanying notes provide an overview on the topic of Muslims and their faith, as well as an overview on the topic of Ramadan and fasting. Getting to Know American Muslims and Their Faith covers basic definitions, demographics, notable American Muslims, and basic traditions and practices. It concludes with a brief overview at common misconceptions about Muslims and relations with other religions. An Overview of Ramadan and Fasting describes the month of Ramadan and the lunar calendar, the purpose and goals of fasting, how the fast functions, a look at a typical day in the life of a fasting person, and exemptions from fasting. The presentation also describes some of the challenges for fasting students and how best to accommodate them, and concludes with a description of the holiday which celebrates the end of the fast, Eid ul-Fitr.
