Wishing all those who celebrate a blessed and Merry Christmas!
May this holiday season bring you happiness and joy, and be a time of spiritual rejuvenation and peace. Muslims join their Christian sisters and brothers in the respect and reverence they hold for both Jesus and his mother Mary, who are presented as two of the most revered figures in the Qur’an. The account of Jesus’ miraculous conception and birth is narrated in two Qur’anic chapters, including a chapter named Mary, or Maryam in Arabic. These verses also describe their high spiritual status as well as some of the miracles of Jesus.
And the angels said, “O Mary, God has chosen you and purified you, chosen you above the women of all people. (Quran: 3:42)
The angels said, “O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from God, named the Messiah, Jesus, Son of Mary, honored in this world and the hereafter and among those near to God. He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous.” (Qur’an: 3:45-46)
Jesus said, “Indeed, I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and charity as long as I live. So peace be upon me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive.” (Qur’an: 19:30-33)
Blessings to you and your family,
