2013 Campaign is “Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion”
May 21st was declared “World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development” by the UN General Assembly in its Resolution 57/249. In 2011, a grassroots campaign “Do One Thing For Diversity and Inclusion”, celebrating the annual World Day for Cultural Diversity was launched by UNESCO and the UN Alliance of Civilizations.
The 2013 campaign encourages people and organizations from around the world to take concrete action to support diversity, and aims:
-
- To raise awareness worldwide about the importance of intercultural dialogue, diversity and inclusion.
-
- To build a world community of individuals committed to support diversity with real and every day life gestures.
-
- To combat polarization and stereotypes to improve understanding and cooperation among people from different cultures.
ING’s programs and mission fully reflect these goals. Especially in the area of cultural diversity, ING’s Cultural Diversity seminars are carefully designed for healthcare providers, educators, law enforcement providers, and corporate managers to meet the need for diversity education and cultural competency skills development in their respective organizations.
Through participation in our diversity seminars, participants gain a better understanding of American Muslims in areas such as beliefs, practices, and traditions, as well as protocols for interacting with American Muslims to help improve service delivery and prevent bias, all of which enhance their ability to foster a tolerant and harmonious work and service environment.
