As we approach the anniversary of the tragic September 11th attacks, ING has released a new lesson plan for educators that addresses the broad impact of 9/11 at home and abroad.
Titled “The Impact of 9/11 on America and Beyond,” the five-part curriculum includes discussion questions, activities, and educator resources. It also incorporates tips for teaching about this topic in a manner that prevents subsequent bullying of Muslim, Sikh, and other minority students, which spikes after such classroom discussions.
Developed for high school students in history and social studies classes, as well as college and university students, the lessons span the following topics that can be covered over five days or tailored to suit the students’ needs:
- Lesson One: What Happened on 9/11?
- Lesson Two: The Impact of 9/11 on America
- Lesson Three: The Impact of 9/11 on Minorities
- Lesson Four: The Impact of 9/11 on Muslim Americans
- Lesson Five: The Impact of 9/11 Globally
