Law Enforcement Seminar Overview Cultural Diversity Seminar for Law Enforcement Leaders Designed for police chiefs, sheriffs and other command-level personnel and senior administrators, this seminar titled, “Developing Cultural Competency: Working with American Muslim Communities” provides valuable information and resources for increasing awareness of the impact of the current environment, enhancing cultural competency skills, and developing relationships with American Muslim communities. “Hate crimes merit a priority response. This seminar begins with a description of the impact of anti-Muslim bigotry, including hate crimes. The seminar then provides a better understanding of American Muslims and their faith and practices. The seminar also suggests non-emergency protocols for interaction with both individuals and community institutions and provides law enforcement leaders the opportunity to share their policies and experiences serving Muslim communities.
