In partnership with the Evergreen Islamic Center, ING is hosting a series of workshops to certify and prepare teenage Muslims to counter bigotry and respond knowledgeably to challenging questions and negative stereotyping not only from their peers but also from teachers, school staff, and administrators.

September 6th from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM: INGYouth Teen Empowerment Workshop

  • This workshop provides teen Muslims the safe space to speak about their personal experiences in schools and address how to respond to situations of teasing, harassment and bullying that some Muslim students encounter.

September 13th from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM: INGYouth Speaker Training

  • This speakers training is the prerequisite for INGYouth certification. Students will gain tools, resources and practice on presenting about Muslims in schools and answering difficult questions.

September 20th from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM: Certification Assessment

  • Students must complete and pass a written assessment of the knowledge of INGYouth materials.

September 27th from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM: Practice Sessions

  • Students must attend practice sessions to master the INGYouth resources.

After completion of the last class on September 27th, Students are INGYouth Certified and ready to present in schools (encouraged but not mandatory)

  • With the permission of the student and parent, ING will publicize the certified speaker in their school and school district. Alternatively, they can choose to publicize their certification on their own.

  • Muslim teens must be in 7th – 12th grade (Ages 12 – 18).

  • $45/participant (includes dinner served at 8:00 PM).
