ING Perspective on Pope's Remarks

(September 18, 2006) In a lecture at a German university on September 12th, Pope Benedict described what he sees as a vast difference between Christianity and Islam: while Christianity has reconciled with reason, Islam denies it. To support his case, the Pope quoted a Byzantine Emperor, Manuel II as having said: “Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” Read More

ING Participates in Meaning of Ramadan Open Houses

Thanks to your support, ING’s Interfaith Ramadan Dinner on Saturday, October 14th was a great success! Attended by over 200 people, nearly half of them Americans of other faiths, the program flowed smoothly, the ambience was beautiful, and the feeling of sharing a common tradition was expressed by the speakers and guests alike. The program began with a brief introduction to fasting and Ramadan, followed by the prayers and dinner, and then resumed with a presentation about ING’s interfaith activity in this and next year, which was followed by three religious leaders from each Abrahamic faith discussing the significance of fasting, dialogue and outreach. Muslim guests and those of other faiths both expressed their appreciation for the event, and the importance of building bridges which ING has been dedicated to for the last fourteen years. Listening to Those We Serve

The entire experience of planning a series of seminars with ING was inspirational. They did an amazing job. The ING team welcomed input along the way which allowed each session to be even better than the one before it. We will continue to work with ING as I am confident that they will continue to provide value in our work.

City Human Resources Director

I thought the ING seminar, “Preventing and Responding to Anti-Muslim Bigotry,” was an extremely valuable training for law enforcement, especially in today’s day and age with all the misunderstandings and misperceptions of the Muslim community…I feel this training will help my staff and I in developing better relationships and in responding to the needs of our community. I highly recommend this training to others.
