06/28/11 – Attention parents and all junior high and high school students: ING is conducting back-to-school trainings for youth and parents. ING successfully piloted these trainings at two MYNA retreats as well as at the annual ISNA convention in July. The trainings will equip students with the skills and knowledge to answer frequently asked questions about Islam and Muslims as well as how to respond to harassment and bullying at school. ING Launches Bullying Prevention Program at MYNA and ISNA Conventions 2011
07/08/11 – ING conducted four workshops at this year’s ISNA Convention. The Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB) training was conducted to an enthusiastic crowd of more than 150 attendees, who have now completed their first step in becoming certified speakers. The Answering Difficult Questions about Islam and Muslims workshop was well received with 300 youths in attendance that were eager to take what they learned and implement it in their communities. Attendees at the Bullying Prevention: Workshop for Youth and the Bullying As An Epidemic: Workshop for Parents and Educators gained practical skills and tips in reversing bullying and finding solutions. We invite you to attend our upcoming Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB) training workshop to help promote safer communities, increase cultural competency, and prevent discrimination in our communities. ING will be conducting training for speakers and spokespeople who are interested in joining an existing ING affiliated Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB), initiating their own bureau or becoming an independently certified speaker. ING Presentations Reach 24,500 Individuals Face-to-Face: 2010-2011; 7/23/11
06/23/11 – Over the 2010-2011 school year, ING speakers delivered presentations and panels to diverse audiences consisting of 490 presentations that reached 24,500individuals face-to-face. Audiences ranged from healthcare providers, institutions of higher education, and faith based networks to middle and high schools. While the bulk of ING’s presentations are still in schools, adult audiences attended over 40% of ING’s presentations. Read More

ING’s Minnesota Affiliate Receives Advocates for Human Rights (AHR) 2011 Special Recognition Award
Zafar Siddiqui, President of Islamic Resource Group, with Robin Phillips, Executive Director of Advocates for Human Rights 05/25/11 – ING’s Affiliate bureau in Minneapolis, MN, the Islamic Resource Group received the Advocates for Human Rights (AHR) 2011 Special Recognition Award last week. The award was presented at AHR’s Award Dinner on May 19, 2011, where they also presented the 2011 Don and Arvonne Fraser Human Rights Award to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Shirin Ebadi. At the event, IRG showed a 5 minute video titled The Muslim Experience in Minnesota that they produced with the support of the Minnesota Historical Society. Read More
